Sceptres, Victoire, Charge among 6 PWHL team names, logos

The PWHL unveiled team names and logos for its franchises Monday.

The six team names are the Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Sceptres. The announcements were made on "Good Morning America" in the U.S. and on "Breakfast Television" in Canada.

Jerseys will be unveiled in late October or early November, said PWHL senior vice president of business operations Amy Scheer.

PWHL franchises didn't have team names for the inaugural season. Each team will keep the primary color it had in the first campaign.

The Fleet's logo "pays homage to Boston's collective spirit and rich maritime history," the league said. The color palette is rooted in deep green and is supported by accents of nautical green and oceanic blues.

The Frost's logo "embodies the State of Hockey's deep-rooted love for the ice," the league said. The color palette centers around midnight purple and is complemented by accents of lilac, icy blues, and whites.

The Victoire's design "embodies Montreal's joyously competitive spirit, acting as inspiration for the city to climb to even greater sporting heights," the league said. The primary deep burgundy is complemented by shades of stone and blues.

The Sirens' logo offers "an ode to New York City's one-of-a-kind energy, pace, and rhythm," the league said.

The Charge's design "pays tribute to Ottawa itself, from the city's motto 'Advance,' nodding to its constant state of dynamic growth and forward progress as Canada's capital," the league said. Anchored by bold red, Ottawa's palette is complemented by a contrasting bright yellow and a spectrum of greys.

The Sceptres' logo "embodies Toronto's regal history and commanding presence, reflected in the moniker Queen City," the league said. Rich blue is the primary color and is accented by yellow and orange. The Sceptres will play at Coca-Cola Coliseum next season, where the Toronto franchise played its playoff games in the spring.
