The New York Sirens activated defender Ella Shelton from long-term injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.

Shelton missed five games with a lower-body injury sustained in New York's season-opening overtime win against the Minnesota Frost on Dec. 1. She played 22:53 in the contest and recorded an assist.

The 26-year-old was a finalist for Defender of the Year in the PWHL's first campaign. She led all players at her position with seven goals and 21 points in 24 games.

Shelton won gold with Team Canada at the World Championship last spring. She's a three-time gold medallist at the Worlds and claimed Olympic gold in 2022.

The Sirens released defender Taylor Baker in a corresponding roster move. Baker, 27, has zero points in 25 career PWHL games.

New York faces the Frost on Saturday.
