Charge place Maschmeyer on LTIR
The Ottawa Charge announced Friday that they placed goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer on long-term injured reserve.
Maschmeyer suffered a lower-body injury during Tuesday's win over the Minnesota Frost. However, Ottawa general manager Mike Hirshfeld said the team is cautiously optimistic she'll return before the end of the season.
The 30-year-old has posted a .913 save percentage and 2.58 goals-against average in 18 appearances (tied for most in the PWHL) this campaign.
Charge backup Gwyneth Philips, who owns a .908 save percentage and 2.29 goals-against average in seven games this season, figures to handle the bulk of the workload with Maschmeyer sidelined.
Ottawa also signed netminder Lucy Morgan from Minnesota's reserve list in a corresponding move. She appeared in one contest for the Frost this season, stopping 29 of 34 shots.
