Charge's Bach retires at 28
Ottawa Charge forward Victoria Bach announced her retirement Sunday on Instagram.
Bach notched two goals and five points in 30 games this year split between the Ottawa Charge and Toronto Sceptres. She was traded to the Charge midseason alongside defender Jocelyne Larocque for defender Savannah Harmon and forward Hayley Scamurra.
The 28-year-old was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
"Being a part of the creation of the PWHL, playing in the inaugural season, and representing my hometown and Canada's capital, playing for my country and wearing the maple leaf, it was all a dream come true," Bach wrote. "We did it. I'm beyond excited for what the future holds for women's hockey."
The Sceptres selected Bach 38th overall in the PWHL's inaugural draft. She accumulated four goals and 10 points in 46 games across her two PWHL seasons.
The Milton, Ontario, native won two gold medals at the World Championship with Canada in 2021 and 2022. She totaled one goal and seven points in 14 games over the two tournaments.
Bach was an NCAA star at Boston University. She racked up 104 goals and 198 points in 145 games over four seasons and finished as a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award as the best player in women's college hockey in 2018.
After her collegiate career, Bach played one year with the CWHL's Markham Thunder before the league disbanded in 2019. She scored 19 goals and 32 points in 26 games that season and was named the CWHL's last Rookie of the Year.
