PWHL Seattle inks Schroeder to 2-year deal with final signing of window

PWHL Seattle signed goaltender Corinne Schroeder to a two-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Schroeder had one season left on the two-year extension she signed with the New York Sirens last summer. The 25-year-old posted a .919 save percentage and a 2.43 goals-against average in 20 games this campaign. She also set a PWHL record with four shutouts.

The move is Seattle's fifth of the exclusive signing window, and the team can't make any more additions until Monday's expansion draft. Schroeder joins forwards Hilary Knight, Alex Carpenter, and Danielle Serdachny, plus defender Cayla Barnes, in Seattle. PWHL Vancouver has also signed the maximum number of players in the window.

"Signing Corinne is a huge step for our team," Seattle's general manager, Meghan Turner, said in a statement. "With four shutouts this season, more than anyone in the league, she's shown she can take over a game and deliver when it matters most. She brings poise, confidence, and the kind of elite goaltending every team needs to win, and we can't wait to see her between the pipes for us."

Schroeder has yet to play in the playoffs after New York finished last in both PWHL seasons. She was a finalist for Goaltender of the Year in 2024 after posting a .930 SV% and a 2.40 GAA in 15 games. The Manitoba native recorded a shutout in the first-ever PWHL game on Jan. 1, 2024, versus Toronto.

The Sirens have lost two players in the expansion process and can protect one additional player before Monday's expansion draft.
