The New York Sirens selected forward Kristyna Kaltounkova with the first overall pick in the 2025 PWHL Draft on Tuesday.

Kaltounkova racked up 26 goals, 48 points, and 57 penalty minutes in 37 games this season. She also starred at the World Championship with Czechia, adding four goals, six points, and 10 penalty minutes in the seven-game tournament.

She's the first European taken with the top selection after American Taylor Heise and Canadian Sarah Fillier went No. 1 in the league's first two drafts.

Kaltounkova was coached by New York's head coach Greg Fargo at Colgate from 2020-24. She's the Big Red's all-time leading goal scorer with 111 career goals in 171 games, and she ranks second in points with 233, behind 2024 second overall pick Danielle Serdachny.

The 23-year-old became the first Czech player to be named a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award as the NCAA's top women's hockey player this spring.
