BYU to play Coastal Carolina due to Liberty's COVID-19 issues
No. 13 BYU is now scheduled to face No. 18 Coastal Carolina on Saturday after Liberty's COVID-19 issues forced the Flames to pull out of their matchup against the Chanticleers. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
Both the Cougars and Chanticleers will enter the game with perfect 9-0 records.
Amid their undefeated start, the Cougars' strength of schedule has been frequently discussed. A win over Coastal Carolina could help boost BYU in the eyes of the College Football Playoff committee.
There's only one scheduled game remaining for BYU following the clash with Coastal Carolina. The Cougars are slated to face San Diego State on Dec. 12.
Quarterback Zach Wilson will lead BYU. He's putting together an impressive campaign while tossing 26 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
The undefeated Chanticleers have also faced credibility concerns. Coastal Carolina has won just one game this season against a ranked opponent, beating Louisiana 30-27.
ESPN College Gameday will also be at Coastal Carolina University for the game, increasing exposure for the two top-25 ranked teams.
