Kings sign EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov to 3-year, $20M deal
The Sacramento Kings signed reigning EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov to a three-year, $20-million deal, his agents told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 6-foot-9 power forward has spent the last five seasons at Olympiacos, winning two Greek League titles and three MVP awards. Vezenkov registered 17.6 points per contest during the 2022-23 campaign, winning the Alphonso Ford Trophy as the EuroLeague's top regular-season scorer.
Vezenkov shot 39.5% from deep across eight EuroLeague campaigns and is expected to play a key role for the Kings this season, adds Wojnarowski.
The Brooklyn Nets selected Vezenkov with the 57th overall draft pick in 2017, but he never played a game for the club. The Nets dealt his draft rights to the Cleveland Cavaliers in January 2021 as part of the James Harden multi-team trade.
A year later, Sacramento acquired Vezenkov's rights in exchange for the No. 49 pick in the 2022 NBA draft.
The Kings have been busy early in the offseason, extending Harrison Barnes and re-signing Trey Lyles to a reported two-year, $16-million contract plus bonuses.
Sacramento is also apparently nearing a trade to acquire third-year wing Chris Duarte from the Indiana Pacers.
