The Los Angeles Lakers and star Anthony Davis have agreed on a three-year, $186-million max extension, his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

At an average of $62 million per season, the deal represents the richest annual contract in NBA history, Wojnarowski adds.

The 30-year-old has a total of two years and nearly $84 million remaining on his current deal, which he signed in 2020. Davis's three-year extension, which kicks in during the 2025-26 campaign, will keep him under contract with the Lakers through 2028.

Davis averaged 25.9 points and 12.5 rebounds over 56 games last season for the Lakers. He anchored one of the league's best defenses and helped Los Angeles reach the Western Conference finals.

The 11-year veteran has battled injuries in recent years, missing at least 26 games in each of the past three seasons. Davis wasn't named an All-Star the last two campaigns largely due to his lack of availability after he made eight straight All-Star appearances from 2014-21.

Davis has been with the Lakers for four seasons since they acquired him in a blockbuster trade from the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019.
