Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs suffered a hamstring injury during practice Monday, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The injury's severity is unknown.

Gibbs was a key contributor to the Lions' offense as a rookie in 2023, racking up 1,261 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns to earn Pro Bowl honors and finish fourth in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.

The 5-foot-9, 200-pounder also played an important role in the postseason, recording 238 scrimmage yards and three scores in three games.

Gibbs is expected to operate as one of Detroit's top backs alongside veteran David Montgomery, who rushed for over 1,000 yards last season.

The 22-year-old will aim to be ready for the Lions' first regular-season contest on Sept. 8 when Detroit hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.
