The Seattle Seahawks are trading former second-round pick Darrell Taylor to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round selection, the teams announced Friday.

Taylor gives the Bears another edge rusher alongside Montez Sweat and DeMarcus Walker. Chicago had been in the market for pass-rushing help amid rumors that the franchise was interested in Matthew Judon, who was traded to the Atlanta Falcons.

Taylor was drafted in 2020 and was a productive member of the Seahawks' defense, playing over 40% of the team's defensive snaps each season.

However, he became expendable under new head coach Mike Macdonald due to a surplus on the edge. The Seahawks have Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe, Derick Hall, and Dre'Mont Jones at the position.

Taylor's best year came in 2022 when he recorded 9.5 sacks, which was tied for the team lead, and four forced fumbles. In his final season in Seattle, he notched 5.5 sacks.

Taylor has played in 49 career games, during which time he's tallied 21.5 sacks.
