San Diego Padres president Erik Greupner warned fans that abusive comments or unruly behavior toward players or other spectators won't be tolerated at Petco Park for Games 3 and 4 amid a tense NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

"Our game is at its best when our players and fans give everything they have for their team and city while showing respect and sportsmanship towards players and fans of the opposing team," Greupner said in a statement. "There is never an excuse for abusive speech or behavior towards others at Petco Park.

"As we continue our push for a World Series championship, our team needs you more than ever. Please continue to cheer for the Padres with all you have while showing class and good sportsmanship to those around you."

Game 2 was delayed when fans at Dodger Stadium tossed various objects, including baseballs, on the field in the direction of Jurickson Profar. The Padres outfielder trolled fans after robbing a home run from Dodgers star Mookie Betts earlier in the game.

There was an exchange of words between Dodgers right-hander Jack Flaherty and Padres third baseman Manny Machado. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts also said Machado threw a ball during the contest that nearly hit him.

The winner of Tuesday's Game 3 will move to within one victory of the NLCS.
