New York Islanders forward Anthony Duclair is out long term after suffering an injury Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, general manager Lou Lamoriello said Monday, per Newsday's Andrew Gross.

Lamoriello added that the injury isn't season-ending and that the team will know more on Tuesday after further testing.

Duclair went down awkwardly and appeared to be favoring his right leg as he was helped off the ice.

The Islanders signed Duclair to a four-year contract worth $3.5 million annually this past offseason. He was skating on the team's top line with Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal and recorded two goals and an assist through five games.

Simon Holmstrom skated in Duclair's spot on the top line during Monday's practice.

Duclair has averaged 21 goals and 23 assists per 82 contests in his career. The Islanders are the ninth team he's suited up for across his 11 NHL seasons.
