Edwards fined $35K for failing to leave court, throwing ball into stands
The NBA fined Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was fined $35,000 for failing to leave the court in a timely manner and throwing the game ball into the stands following an ejection during a 111-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
Edwards was tossed after receiving his second technical foul for directing profanity at an official midway through the third quarter. He momentarily refused to leave the court before tossing the ball into the stands.
Head coach Chris Finch chastised his star postgame. "He's got to be better. He's had too many outbursts. I think a lot of them are deserved," he said.
Edwards also received a one-game suspension without pay Thursday for accumulating his 16th technical foul of the season, which forced him to sit out a 117-116 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday.
Edwards has been fined six times for a total of $320,000 this campaign.
Minnesota is 32-29 and sits ninth in the West.
