The Jacksonville Jaguars plan to release wide receiver Christian Kirk, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Kirk played in just eight games in 2024 before breaking his collarbone in late October. He also missed five contests the previous season.

The move will save the Jaguars $10.4 million against the cap, per Over the Cap. Kirk had one year left on his contract but zero guaranteed money remaining.

Jacksonville reportedly nearly traded the wideout to the Pittsburgh Steelers during the season prior to his injury.

Kirk, 28, joined the Jaguars on a lucrative four-year, $72-million contract as a free agent in 2022 after beginning his career with the Arizona Cardinals.

He had 27 receptions for 379 yards and one touchdown while missing nine games last season. He was the Jags' best wideout in his first campaign with the team, tallying a career-best 84 catches, 1,108 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2022.

Jacksonville won the AFC South that year but missed the playoffs the following season and finished 4-13 in 2024.

Rookie Brian Thomas Jr. led the way for the Jaguars last season, finishing top 10 in the league in receiving yards and touchdowns. Jacksonville also rosters Gabe Davis, Josh Reynolds, and Devin Duvernay at wide receiver.

Kirk will join a group of free-agent receivers that includes Davante Adams, Chris Godwin, Stefon Diggs, and Tyler Lockett, who was also released Wednesday.
