The Los Angeles Rams are planning to release wide receiver Cooper Kupp at the start of the new league year Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Rams announced in February that they planned to move Kupp, but the team has yet to find a trade partner. He was on the trade block during the 2024 season but finished the campaign with Los Angeles.

Kupp spent his first eight NFL seasons with the Rams, who drafted him in the third round in 2017. He immediately established himself as a fan favorite and one of the NFL's most consistent receivers, but injuries have been an issue of late.

The 31-year-old captured a rare receiving triple crown in 2021 with 145 catches, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns before being named Super Bowl MVP at the end of that season. However, he's appeared in only 33 games since. The veteran pass-catcher finished 2024 with 67 catches for 710 yards and six TDs.

Kupp ranks in the top four in catches (634), receiving yards (7,776), and touchdown receptions (57) in Rams history.

Los Angeles found a new No. 1 target in 2023 fifth-round pick Puka Nacua, who's registered 184 receptions in two NFL seasons. The Rams also recently signed six-time Pro Bowl wideout Davante Adams.
