Shedeur: Sliding out of 1st round adds 'fuel to the fire'

The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft ended with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders still available, much to his surprise.

"We all didn't expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything is possible," Sanders told his draft party Thursday night.

However, he said the slide would add more "fuel to the fire."

"We understand we're on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow's the day," Sanders said. "We're going to be happy regardless."

Sanders, once considered to be a potential No. 1 overall pick, was passed over by numerous teams in need of a quarterback. The Tennessee Titans selected Miami passer Cam Ward with the first overall pick, while the New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers, among other clubs, opted not to pick Sanders. The New York Giants traded back into the first round late but took Ole Miss passer Jaxson Dart instead at No. 25 overall.

The second round of the 2025 NFL Draft opens with the Cleveland Browns (No. 33).
