The Pittsburgh Steelers are expecting a decision from Aaron Rodgers soon.

"We're still kind of getting the same signals that we've been getting recently," owner Art Rooney II told Steelers Nation Radio on Friday, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor. "He does want to come here, so I do think we may get word soon."

Rodgers has been linked to the Steelers since being released by the New York Jets. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Rodgers' decision wouldn't affect the team's draft strategy, and the coach previously noted that Rodgers has no deadline for making a decision.

Pittsburgh currently has Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson as its quarterbacks. The Steelers' signal-callers from the 2024 campaign - Russell Wilson and Justin Fields - signed with the New York Giants and the New York Jets, respectively, in the offseason.

The Steelers selected two players in the first two days of the NFL draft - defensive tackle Derrick Harmon in the first round and running back Kaleb Johnson in the third. Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers remain options for teams looking to bolster their quarterback room.

Rooney notes that if the Steelers select a quarterback with one of their remaining four picks, the passer would likely play backup for the entirety of the 2025 campaign.

"If we draft a quarterback - and we still might - probably not someone who's going to start for us this year. It's going to be somebody that will be developing and may play down the road," Rooney said. "It's not like somebody that's going to have a big impact on this season."
