The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goaltender Jonas Johansson to a two-year contract extension with a $1.25-million cap hit, the team announced Wednesday.

Johansson posted a .895 save percentage and 3.13 goals-against average in 19 games this season with Tampa Bay. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent.

The 29-year-old has served as Andrei Vasilevskiy's primary backup goaltender since signing with the Lightning in 2023. Johansson has gone 21-13-8 over two seasons in Tampa Bay with a .892 SV% and 3.27 GAA. His contract over the past two campaigns carried a league-minimum $775,000 cap hit.

Johansson has made 80 appearances over six NHL seasons between the Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, and Lightning. The Swedish netminder has a 32-26-12 career record with a .890 SV% and 3.30 GAA.
