The NHL's Department of Player Safety fined Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn the maximum $5,000 for roughing Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele late in Thursday's Game 5.

As the Jets held a 3-0 lead with 6:32 remaining, Benn landed a sucker punch on Scheifele during a post-whistle scrum.

Benn received two minutes for roughing plus a 10-minute misconduct. However, the Stars ended up with a power play because Jets forward Brandon Tanev also received a misconduct plus two minutes for roughing, and Scheifele was handed two minutes for roughing.

The Jets held on for a 4-0 victory. Game 6 goes Saturday in Dallas with the Stars up 3-2 in the series.
