Texas Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson said he expects to miss six weeks with a fractured right hand after he was hit by a pitch during Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox, according to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News.

Pederson originally stayed in the contest after White Sox right-hander Bryse Wilson struck him during the fourth inning. However, Texas ended up taking Pederson out for a pinch runner.

Pederson added postgame that he immediately felt something was off and described a clicking sensation in his hand.

The 33-year-old will now be sidelined for an extended period after slashing an abysmal .131/.269/.238 with two homers and six RBIs over 46 games.

The Rangers signed Pederson to a two-year, $37-million contract during the offseason after he went deep 23 times with 64 RBIs and a career-best .908 OPS across 132 contests for the Arizona Diamondbacks last year.
