The Detroit Tigers placed right-hander Jackson Jobe on the 15-day injured list Friday with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right elbow.
Jobe left Wednesday's start against the San Francisco Giants in the fifth inning after experiencing a dip in his fastball velocity during the outing.
The 22-year-old former top pitching prospect entered the season as one of the AL Rookie of the Year favorites.
Jobe owns a 4.22 ERA with 1.49 WHIP and 39 strikeouts over 49 innings (10 starts) for the AL Central-leading Tigers.
Detroit also promoted right-hander Dylan Smith from Triple-A to take Jobe's spot on the active roster, while right-hander Alex Cobb was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
