Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty has impressed multiple members of the Las Vegas Raiders during the team's mandatory minicamp.

"He caught the ball well, understood stuff, took everything seriously, (and) gave terrific effort throughout," head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday, according to ESPN's Ryan McFadden. "We made a big deal of him - 'Everybody's watching you' - and he embraced the thought of it."

Jeanty was selected sixth overall after a standout career at Boise State. He tallied 4,769 rushing yards, 862 receiving yards, and 56 total touchdowns during three seasons with the Broncos.

"This is what I've done with rookies for a long time," Carroll said. "It just depends on how well you orchestrate what you ask them to do. And if they can find success, that helps our depth and helps us stay competitive."

Offensive coordinator Chip Kelly is among those impressed with Jeanty.

"He's such a coachable guy that you can do a lot of things with him," Kelly said. "I think he can play in the slot (and) in the backfield."

Jeanty is expected to handle the vast majority of the team's snaps at running back next season. Raheem Mostert, Zamir White, and Sincere McCormick are competing for backup duties. Mostert was yet another Raider who lauded Jeanty, saying that he's "going to be special."

Jeanty finished second in Heisman voting last season after posting 2,739 scrimmage yards and 30 total touchdowns in 14 games.
