Veteran wing DeWanna Bonner signed with the Phoenix Mercury, the team announced Tuesday.

Rookie forward Murjanatu Musa was waived to make room on the roster for Bonner.

"We couldn't be more excited to have DeWanna back in a Mercury uniform," Mercury general manager Nick U'Ren said in a statement. "She is a true winner, leader, and one of the most talented and versatile players in our game.

"Her high basketball IQ, shooting range, athleticism, and ability to play and defend multiple positions is going to be a great addition to what are we building here in Phoenix."

Phoenix selected Bonner with the No. 5 overall pick in 2009. She spent the first 10 years of her decorated career with the Mercury, earning three Sixth Woman of the Year awards, three All-Star nods, a pair of WNBA titles, and an All-WNBA first-team selection.

The 37-year-old reunites with her partner and former Connecticut Sun teammate Alyssa Thomas in Phoenix.

Bonner was the Indiana Fever's marquee offseason signing, but she was waived after making nine appearances. She said in a team-issued release that "the fit did not work out" with the Fever.

Bonner averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 boards, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals during her brief tenure with Indiana.

Phoenix sits second in the league with a 12-6 record entering Monday's matchup against the Dallas Wings.
