The Vancouver Canucks are sending goaltender Arturs Silovs to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick, the teams announced Sunday.

Silovs won AHL playoff MVP after leading the Abbotsford Canucks to the Calder Cup with a .931 save percentage in 24 games.

The 24-year-old struggled in his NHL minutes this season, going 2-6-1 with a .861 SV% with Vancouver. Silovs posted a .908 SV% in 21 contests during the AHL regular season.

Silovs was called into the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs when Thatcher Demko went down with an injury. He made 10 appearances for Vancouver and had a .898 SV%.

The Latvian backstopped his nation to a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championship and was named tournament MVP. He was one of the six initial players named to his country's Olympic roster.

Silovs carries a $850,000 cap hit next season and requires waivers to be assigned to the minors. After trading goalie Alex Nedeljkovic to the San Jose Sharks earlier in July, the Penguins have Tristan Jarry and prospects Joel Blomqvist, Filip Larsson, and Sergei Murashov under contract between the pipes.

Vancouver signed Demko to a three-year extension on July 1 and inked Kevin Lankinen to a contract through 2029-30 in February.

Silovs was drafted 156th overall by the Canucks in 2019.

Stillman, meanwhile, tallied four goals and 12 points in 65 AHL outings last season. The New Jersey Devils drafted him 29th overall in 2021.
