The Houston Astros placed third baseman Isaac Paredes on the injured list with a right hamstring strain, the team announced Sunday.

Paredes departed Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners with right hamstring discomfort after getting hurt running to first base on a single in the third inning.

The 26-year-old Paredes has been a key piece for the AL West-leading Astros, recording 19 homers with 50 RBIs and an .829 OPS over 94 games en route to becoming an All-Star for the second time in his six-year career.

The Astros acquired Paredes from the Chicago Cubs in the offseason as part of the Kyle Tucker trade.

Houston also optioned catcher César Salazar, recalled infielder Shay Whitcomb, selected infielder Jon Singleton, and moved infielder Brendan Rodgers to the 60-day IL in corresponding moves.
