The Seattle Seahawks are giving general manager and president of football operations John Schneider a contract extension that runs through 2031, the team announced Wednesday.

Seattle is adding four years to Schneider's deal, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. With the executive signed through the 2030 NFL Draft, he'll have spent 20 drafts with the Seahawks at the end of his new contract.

"The extension of general manager John Schneider's contract is a testament to his 15-plus years of football leadership and success," Seahawks chair Jody Allen said in a statement. "I am confident that John will continue to deliver real results and a continued strong partnership with head coach Mike Macdonald that is already contributing to our winning culture on and off the field."

Schneider has been Seahawks GM since 2010. He started as vice president of football ops before being elevated to president of football ops in 2024.

During Schneider's tenure, Seattle's made 10 playoff appearances, played in two Super Bowls, and won one title.

The team has gone through multiple transition periods under Schneider with Russell Wilson, Geno Smith, and now Sam Darnold set to take the reins at quarterback.

The Seahawks finished 10-7 last season, their best record since 2020. However, they did not make the playoffs.
