Rodgers named team captain in 1st year with Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced four team captains for the 2025 season Monday with their new quarterback headlining the list.
Steelers players chose Aaron Rodgers, linebacker T.J. Watt, defensive lineman Cameron Heyward, and safety Miles Killebrew.
Rodgers joined the Steelers in June after spending 2024 with the New York Jets. The four-time NFL MVP served as team captain several times during his tenures with the Green Bay Packers and Jets.
Counting Rodgers, Pittsburgh has voted four different quarterbacks as team captain in as many seasons since Ben Roethlisberger retired. Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett earned the honor in 2022 and in '23, respectively, while Russell Wilson was voted team captain last year.
Meanwhile, this is Heyward's 11th consecutive year as a Steelers captain. Watt has been a defensive captain five times, and Killebrew has claimed the honor on special teams each year since 2022.
