With Manchester United targeting a blockbuster move for Juventus' French international Paul Pogba, Jose Mourinho and co. are reportedly monitoring Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi as a backup plan.
Both Frenchman share agent Mino Raiola, and with another of his clients, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, having already made the move to Old Trafford, Matuidi is understood to be United's fallback plan, according to a report from the Manchester Evening News.

Matuidi, 29, is under contract with the capital club through 2018 and is but one of a slew of central midfielders fighting for a spot in Unai Emery's teamsheet.
Grzegorz Krychowiak was signed from Sevilla, compounding a logjam of middle-of-the-park specialists at the Parc des Princes. Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta, and Adrien Rabiot will likely compete with the Polish international and Matuidi as PSG looks to win a fifth-straight league title.
Reports suggest that Raiola has told his client Pogba to rejoin United after the 23-year-old made just three first-team appearances under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011-12 following two years in the club's academy.
With Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Eric Bailly, United has already signed three players ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, and with Mourinho eyeing four signings, it would appear that Pogba is that fourth target.
"We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, priorities," Mourinho said. "To give a certain balance to the squad, to give a certain push in terms of quality, and the qualities that I need, that I want, as we know especially with the ones with more vision."
Both Pogba and Matuidi are expected to start Thursday's Euro 2016 semi-final against Germany, and the two are likely to line up alongside each other in Didier Deschamps' 4-3-3 formation.
