Barzagli ruled out 2 months with separated shoulder

Juventus' injury woes continue as centre-back Andrea Barzagli has been shelved for two months after picking up a separated shoulder during Sunday's 2-1 victory over Chievo.

Barzagli, 35, collided with Chievo's Dario Dainelli, and after laying on the pitch in considerable pain, was taken off for Azzurri colleague Leonardo Bonucci, who himself was dealing with a muscle issue.

The five-time defending Scudetto champ confirmed the news Monday with a statement on its website, detailing the time frame for the Italian international's recovery.

"The defender's arm will be in a sling for the next four weeks with a return to action scheduled for approximately for two months' time."

Barzagli will now obviously miss Italy's two fixtures during the international break against Liechtenstein and Germany, with hopes that he'll be fit to return the first week of January.

The defender's injury is the latest tough break for a side littered with ailments.

Fellow centre-back Giorgio Chiellini continues to nurse a hamstring concern, while Paulo Dybala, and Marko Pjaca are both on the treatment table until the international break.

Bonucci has returned to the squad after picking up a thigh injury against Lyon, and hopes were that the lanky Juve veteran wouldn't be needed against Chievo Sunday. Barzagli's coming off quashed those hopes, and now, Bonucci is the only fit member of a stellar back-three known as "BBC".

With Max Allegri's trusted trio all carrying injuries, Medhi Benatia and Stephan Lichsteiner started with Barzagli as part of a makeshift back three. The Swiss international was poor in a central position and was replaced late by summer signing Dani Alves.

Daniele Rugani may fancy finding his boots for Juve's Serie A return when it hosts Pescara on Nov. 19.
