Agent: PSG needs more than money to keep Juventus target Verratti

If Paris Saint-Germain fancies keeping hold of influential midfielder Marco Verratti, it's going to take more than money.

At least that's what the Italian international's agent, Donato Di Campli, said amid rumours that six-time defending Scudetto champ Juventus is monitoring his client.

"Juventus will certainly do something special in the next transfer window," Di Campli told Tuttosport, courtesy of ESPN FC.

Under contract at PSG through 2021, Verratti has been a key component of Les Parisiens' four Ligue 1 titles on the bounce since joining the capital club from Pescara.

Five years on, and even with the opulence and seemingly endless wealth of PSG and chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Di Campli insisted that won't be enough. Monaco snatched the Ligue 1 crown from atop its head this season, and with a spell of stagnation threatening PSG, Di Campli reckons that may play a factor in a potential exit for Verratti.

"Now it is clear - money is not enough," Di Campli said. "Appeal is also needed and in the last four or five years, the French club have not done enough to improve in that regard.

"Juventus are much more attractive because champions are attracted to winning teams."

One person with intimate knowledge of PSG who's a fan of Verratti is former full-back Maxwell, who retired at season's end and is reportedly close to joining the club's backroom staff as assistant sporting director alongside newly appointed sporting director, Antero Henrique.

Maxwell was adamant that Verratti is not leaving, saying, "PSG want to keep him in the squad and in the project. He is fundamental. When you are ambitious, you keep this kind of player. We cannot let him leave."
