Tottenham's Son Heung-Min nets two goals in Europa League win
If Thursday's 3-1 Europa League victory over FK Qarabag is any indication, Tottenham's goal-scoring summer signing Son Heung-Min might have a bright future at White Hart Lane.
A surprisingly entertaining opening stanza was highlighted by two goals from the 45-time capped South Korean international, as the Spurs did just enough to outclass an Azerbaijani side rife with attacking impetus and a potent counter-attack.
Following a close-range equalizer in the 28th minute, Son scored his second for the Spurs, with another newcomer in Dele Alli doing the work.
Another Hotspur making his first appearance with the club, full-back Kieran Trippier, played a hand in the opener, as the ex-Burnley player sloppily brought down Qarabag's Ansi Angolli in the box.
Qarabag's Richard Almeida stepped up and calmly slotted a penalty past the outstretched grasp of Spurs 'keeper Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham's Erik Lamela chipped in a third four minutes from time to put the tie out of reach. The Argentine scored only his sixth Spurs goal in 51 appearances in all competitions.
Thursday's match was also an opportunity for Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino to allow for two other summer signings, Clinton Njie and Harry Winks, to make their debuts with the north London side.
Tottenham now sit atop Group J, two points clear of Monaco and Anderlecht.
