VIDEO: Vaclav Cerny saves Ajax's European hopes with late solo effort
Ajax's teenage attacker Vaclav Cerny single-handedly kept the Amsterdam club's Europa League hopes alive with a late individual effort in a 2-1 victory over Celtic in Glasgow on Thursday.
The 18-year-old Czech striker marauded from a few yards shy of the centre circle before whipping a curled-strike beyond the reach of Celtic shot-stopper Craig Gordon.
The impact of Cerny's goal was felt all the way in Molde, Norway, as his heroic effort gave Ajax their first Europa League Group A win of the season and kept Fenerbahce from joining the nordic outfit in the knockout stage.
Molde have already qualified on 10 points, while the Turkish side sit on six points, two clear of Ajax. Frank de Boer's men will now host the Norwegians on Dec. 10, while Fenerbahce host Celtic.
