Olivier Giroud is in advanced talks with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC over a potential move once his AC Milan contract expires this summer, according to The Athletic's Tom Bogert and David Ornstein.
The all-time leading scorer for France's men's team will weigh up LAFC's offer against the possibility of staying with Milan, or moving to the Middle East or elsewhere in Europe. He will be available as a free agent when his Milan deal ends on June 30.
LAFC hold Giroud's discovery rights - meaning they have priority in negotiations after identifying him as a potential signing before their MLS rivals - and already have one of the striker's former international teammates, fellow 2018 World Cup winner Hugo Lloris, on their roster.
Giroud's productivity hasn't slowed at 37. He's contributed 12 goals and eight assists over 26 Serie A appearances this season, already outdoing his goal contributions (goals plus assists) from each of his previous two seasons with Milan. He boasts a men's record of 56 goals in 129 France caps and is in the squad for Les Bleus' upcoming friendlies against Germany and Chile.
Before joining Milan in 2021, Giroud collected major silverware with Montpellier, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
