Gabriel Jesus' stunning brace on debut leads Brazil past Ecuador
Manchester City summer signing Gabriel Jesus scored a double on his senior team debut to hand Brazil its first victory in Quito in 33 years, besting Ecuador 3-0 to earn a vital three points in World Cup qualifiers.
Neymar opened the scoring with a straightforward finish from the spot, but it was the 19-year-old Palmeiras stud who was the star of the match.
Gabriel's first Canarinho goal was a deft backheel flick, bettered only by his second tally, a thunderous turn-and-shoot effort that a befuddled Alexander Dominguez could do little about.
After starting CONMEBOL qualifiers with four victories on the bounce, Ecuador now has a draw and two defeats in its last three and sits third in the table, one point above Brazil. With the victory, Tite's lot vault twice defending Copa champ Chile and rival Argentina for fourth place and an automatic qualification spot.
