Klinsmann reveals U.S. roster for World Cup qualifying matches vs. Guatemala
U.S. Men's National Team manager Jurgen Klinsmann announced Sunday his roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Guatemala, with eight players set to make their campaign debut.
The U.S. takes on Guatemala in a home-and-away series, kicking off in Guatemala City on March 25 before returning to Columbus on March 29.
"Our goal definitely for the two Guatemala fixtures is six points," Klinsmann said in a statement. "We badly want to get the job done before the Copa America Centenario if possible. We know it’s going to be very difficult, especially in Guatemala City, but it’s also going to be difficult in Columbus, and there we have a great crowd behind us.
New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen, San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski, and Columbus Crew winger Ethan Finlay highlight the World Cup qualifying newcomers joining this crop of established veterans, which also features Toronto FC duo Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore, as well as returning Seattle Sounders forward Clint Dempsey.
