Sky rookie Cardoso set to make season debut vs. Fever
Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso is available for Saturday's clash against the Indiana Fever, the team announced Friday.
Cardoso missed the Sky's first six games of the campaign after sustaining a shoulder injury in a preseason contest against the Minnesota Lynx earlier in May. She was originally slated to miss at least four-to-six weeks.
The 6-foot-7 center will likely serve as Elizabeth Williams' backup.
Chicago selected Cardoso with the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft. The 23-year-old began her college career at Syracuse before transferring to South Carolina following her freshman season.
Cardoso rose to prominence over the next three campaigns with the Gamecocks. Last season, she won SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors and was named the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after leading the school to its second national championship in three years.
