Liberty center Jonquel Jones was named WNBA Finals MVP after she led New York to its first-ever league title Sunday.

Jones averaged 17.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in the championship series. She scored a team-high 17 points while also grabbing six rebounds in the Liberty's 67-62 Game 5 closeout victory.

"I could never dream of this," Jones said, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. "Y'all know my story. Y'all know how many times I've been denied. It was delayed. That's all it was, and I'm so happy to do it here."

Jones adds this honor to her league MVP, Sixth Player of the Year award, and Most Improved Player trophy.

The Bahamian is the first non-American to win the award since 2019 when Belgian forward Emma Meesseman claimed the honor with the Washington Mystics.
