Sun's Mabrey requests trade
Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey has requested a trade after less than one season with the club, her agent told ESPN's Alexa Philippou.
The Sun acquired Mabrey from the Chicago Sky midway through the 2024 campaign.
She was an important floor-spacing option down the stretch during her brief time in Connecticut, averaging 14.9 points and shooting 42.4% from deep across 16 appearances.
Mabrey was second on the Sun in playoff scoring during their run to the WNBA semifinals, posting 15.9 points per contest.
The 28-year-old is set to become a free agent next offseason.
Connecticut has already lost all five starters from the previous campaign, including five-time All-Star forward Alyssa Thomas.
Sun head coach Stephanie White has also departed. She was replaced by Belgian national team boss Rachid Meziane.
