Report: Bonner expected to sign with Mercury
Veteran wing DeWanna Bonner is expected to sign with the Phoenix Mercury in the coming days, sources told ESPN's Michael Voepel and Josh Weinfuss.
Phoenix selected Bonner with the No. 5 overall pick in 2009. She spent the first 10 years of her decorated career with the Mercury, earning three Sixth Woman of the Year awards, three All-Star nods, a pair of WNBA titles, and an All-WNBA first-team selection.
Bonner will also reunite with her partner and former Connecticut Sun teammate Alyssa Thomas.
Bonner was the Indiana Fever's marquee off-season signing, but was waived after making only nine appearances.
The 37-year-old later said in a team-issued release that her fit with the Fever "did not work out."
Bonner averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 boards, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 steals during her brief tenure with Indiana.
Phoenix sits second in the league with a 12-6 record entering Monday's matchup against the Dallas Wings.
