Lynx's Carrington done for season with foot injury
DiJonai Carrington will miss the remainder of the playoffs due to a significant mid-foot sprain sustained Wednesday in the Minnesota Lynx's Game 2 win over the Golden State Valkyries, the team announced Saturday.
Carrington had already been ruled out for Sunday's WNBA semifinals opener against the Phoenix Mercury.
Minnesota acquired Carrington from the Dallas Wings ahead of the trade deadline. The 27-year-old played a key role off the Lynx's bench since her arrival, averaging 8.6 points and 1.2 steals to go with a 45.5% clip from deep across 11 appearances.
Carrington scored 11 points in 14 minutes during the team's series-clinching win versus the Valkyries.
The Connecticut Sun selected Carrington with the 20th overall pick in the 2021 WNBA draft. She had a breakout season last year during her final campaign with the Sun, winning Most Improved Player honors and earning her maiden All-Defensive first-team selection.
