The king has reclaimed the throne in the world of snowboarding.

With an epic final run score of 97.75 on Wednesday, Shaun White not only won his third Olympic halfpipe gold medal, but the 31-year-old legend claimed the United States' 100th gold medal in Winter Olympic history.

White announced his intentions early in the final, throwing down an impressive first run of 94.25 that culminated with the California native tossing his helmet into the crowd in celebration.

While many considered the jam done with that performance, Japan's Ayumu Hirano had other ideas, lighting up the course with an amazing second run of 95.25 to take the lead. White would fail to top that on his second trip down the pipe, falling halfway through his run to sit in second place heading into the last round.

Hirano would fail to improve his score, and with White the last man to hit the halfpipe, he knew exactly what was required of him to top the podium. After opening with back-to-back 1440s, White would finish his run with a mix of massive air and technically perfect maneuvers to complete the comeback win.

White becomes the first snowboarder in Olympic history to win three gold medals, and leaves little doubt as to who holds the title of the best male snowboarder ever.
