Finland avoided a massive upset, rallying past Switzerland 3-2 in overtime during its quarterfinal game of the men's hockey tournament at the Milan Cortina Olympics on Wednesday.
Finnish defenseman Miro Heiskanen scored the equalizer with 1:12 remaining in the third period. Artturi Lehkonen cashed in the OT winner on a breakaway for the defending Olympic champions.
Sebastian Aho also scored for Finland.
Finnish goaltender Juuse Saros settled in after a rough start to make 21 saves.
Damien Riat and Nino Niederreiter found twine for Switzerland.
Finland will face top-seeded Canada in the semis if the Americans beat Sweden. If the Swedes upset the U.S., Finland would face Slovakia.
