Andreescu pulls out of Citi Open
Rising star Bianca Andreescu has withdrawn from next week's Citi Open due to an ongoing shoulder injury but should be ready for the Rogers Cup, her agency told The Canadian Press.
Canada's top-ranked women's tennis player is currently scheduled to play Aug. 6 during the evening session of her hometown tournament.
The 19-year-old didn't play at Wimbledon and pulled out before her second-round match at the French Open. Andreescu has played just one match since originally injuring her shoulder at the Miami Open in March.
She has been practicing in Montreal and her shoulder is currently a "day-to-day thing," according to Sportsnet's Caroline Cameron.
Andreescu was having a breakout season and reached a career-high ranking of 22 in May. She holds a 32-4 record this year and most notably claimed the prestigious Indian Wells title with a win over three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber.
