Report: Rob Gronkowski finalizing deal with WWE
Former tight end Rob Gronkowski is close to finalizing a deal with WWE, according to Ryan Satin of FOX Sports.
Gronkowski's role is still unclear, but he could make a WWE appearance as early as March 20 at Friday Night Smackdown in New Orleans, Satin reports.
Last August, the three-time Super Bowl champion told reporters he would be interested in doing WWE at some point over the next few years.
"With wrestling, I don't feel like I would be a full-time wrestler, but there is one thing I'm down for," Gronkowski said, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "And that's to do one crazy match."
The 30-year-old Gronkowski, who is currently a football analyst for Fox Sports, previously made an appearance at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017. On that occasion, he helped Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The former tight end has also been rumored to be considering an NFL comeback since retiring in March 2019 after nine seasons with the New England Patriots.
