Whyte injured, out of April 5 bout vs. Joyce
Dillian Whyte has withdrawn from his heavyweight fight against Joe Joyce on April 5 after suffering a hand injury in training, Queensberry Promotions announced Tuesday.
Whyte and Joyce were scheduled to headline an all-heavyweight card at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
A replacement opponent is being finalized for Joyce, with an announcement coming soon, Queensberry Promotions said in a statement on X.
Whyte, a former WBC interim heavyweight champion, was seeking his fourth straight victory. The 36-year-old Englishman hasn't lost since facing Tyson Fury in 2022.
Joyce, a 39-year-old London native, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Derek Chisora last July and is 1-3 in his last four appearances. Joyce is a former WBO interim titleholder.
Joyce was scheduled to face Patrick Korte in a tune-up fight this past Saturday, but it was called off the day before the event for an unknown reason.
