PSG's Emery hints at Lucas, Ben Arfa exits

Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery has opened the door for January exits for out-of-favour attack duo Lucas Moura and Hatem Ben Arfa.

"Some players who play less, perhaps they can be protagonists of another team because they are good players and do not have the opportunity to play here, like Lucas Moura or Hatem Ben Arfa." Emery said, courtesy of L'Equipe.

With PSG in search of Financial Fair Play (FFP) compliance after record-breaking moves for Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, it's no secret that chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi is looking to dump some contracts during the January transfer window.

"Elsewhere, they talk a lot about financial fair play," Emery offered, unconcerned by economic criticisms of the free-spending Ligue 1 leader. "Here, the club is compliant with the rules of financial fair play, it works out to be alright."

Lucas, Ben Arfa, Javier Pastore, and discontent winger Angel Di Maria are the names most frequently linked with an exit.

Lucas has yet to start a league match this season, and with a year-and-a-half left on his current deal, it's likely PSG will look to recoup a portion of the €40 million paid to Sao Paulo for the 25-year-old Brazilian in 2013. Ben Arfa, who joined the capital club on a free transfer from Nice in 2016, has made just three Coupe de France appearances this season and was exiled to Under-23 training earlier in the year. The Frenchman's current terms expire in the summer.
