Pablo Sandoval has become Mr. Versatility for San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy.
He's already appeared at third base, first base, and pitched an inning of relief this season, and now Sandoval will make his first career start at second base Sunday against the Chicago Cubs.
Sandoval has played second once before, though only briefly. He shifted over for two outs last season while still with the Boston Red Sox, but did not have a ball hit to him.
The Giants are thin at the position with Joe Panik and Alen Hanson on the disabled list, so Bochy began having Sandoval field grounders at second last week.
The 31-year-old has played 1,052 games defensively, and 972 have come at the hot corner.
