Diaz was checked on by training staff and ultimately replaced by Luis Avilan. Machado was credited with a single on the play.

X-rays on the reliever's big toe came back negative, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

With New York out of contention, Diaz has started popping up in trade rumors. However, the Mets would be looking for more than they paid to obtain him last winter.

New York acquired Diaz from the Seattle Mariners along with Robinson Cano in exchange for top prospect Jarred Kelenic, outfielder Jay Bruce, reliever Anthony Swarzak, and pitching prospects Justin Dunn and Gerson Bautista.

Over 43 appearances, including Thursday's injury-shortened outing, Diaz owns a 4.81 ERA and 3.50 FIP while notching 22 saves. The 25-year-old right-hander is one season removed from winning AL Reliever of the Year after collecting 57 saves with a 1.96 ERA and 1.61 FIP with the Mariners.
