Boston Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez cautioned against taking COVID-19 lightly after contracting the illness before being cleared to return to the team's camp.

"I felt like I was 100 years old," Rodriguez said Sunday, according to Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe.

The starting pitcher added that people should wear masks, wash their hands, and be careful.

Rodriguez admitted he's never been so sick in his life and hopes to never be again, notes Guerin Austin of NESN. He said former teammate David Price reached out constantly to check on him.

The 27-year-old isn't the only Major League Baseball player to publicly discuss the impact of COVID-19 on the body. Atlanta Braves All-Star Freddie Freeman recently said he prayed while dealing with a high fever and the loss of his senses of smell and taste for several days.
